More Tea is Finland’s first authentic Taiwanese bubble tea brand, established in the summer of 2020. Bubble tea is a modern Taiwanese tea culture that transforms high-quality tea varieties into convenient takeaway beverages. The term “bubble” refers both to the foam created during the shaking process and to the pearl-shaped tapioca toppings added to the drink. In Taiwan, bubble tea shops are as common as convenience stores, shaping the urban landscape with their vibrant presence.
With a vision to expand its chain across Finland, More Tea commissioned me to develop a spatial design guideline for its various branches. The foundation of the design blends nostalgic Taiwanese corner-shop aesthetics with modern Finnish sensibilities. Raw-textured walls in soft grey and milk tea tones, paired with terrazzo flooring, create a warm and inviting backdrop. Dark wooden spatial elements harmonize with deep green glazed tiles at the counter. Mismatched chairs create a casual, welcoming vibe, while Taiwanese-designed lighting adds a subtle cultural touch.
As the brand expands, its locations will vary in size—from compact 15m² booths to larger 65m² spaces with dedicated seating areas. Some shops will even function as standalone islands within shopping mall walkways. By following a cohesive spatial design guideline, More Tea shops create a Finnish-Taiwanese ambiance, offering an authentic and immersive bubble tea experience across Finland.
*"Window blossoms" are traditional Taiwanese window grilles found in old houses, designed to provide security for residents. Typically made of stainless steel or iron with a colored powder coating, they blend aesthetics with functionality.
