2022 B.B. Art Gallery, Tainan, Taiwan
Lakuboba is a community of Taiwanese architects who pursued and graduated from master’s programs in architecture across the Nordic countries, including Finland, Denmark, and Norway. We created a collective blog and organized an exhibition titled 北歐建走 (Nordic Architecture Walk) in the historic and culturally rich city of Tainan. Through this exhibition, we introduced Nordic architecture and living philosophy from the Taiwanese perspective.
Hosted at B.B.Art Gallery, housed in a traditional Taiwanese building, the exhibition was designed as an immersive experience, bringing Nordic everyday life to a Taiwanese audience. The space was divided into three distinct areas on the building’s ground floor. Wooden panels mounted on the walls displayed our thesis projects, accompanied by images and foldable pamphlets for visitors to explore. A sauna-inspired room, set in dim lighting, served as a small cinema screening our captured Nordic daily scenes. Adjacent to it, a cozy lounge area—featuring a Danish chair, a lamp, and printed observations of life in the North—evoked the warmth of a Nordic home. At the heart of the space, a raised platform with a ladder functioned as a photo booth, reminiscent of the floating platforms often seen on Nordic lakes.
Despite a limited budget, we were able to bring Nordic daily life to Taiwan, sharing years of observation, reflection, and dialogue between Nordic and East Asian environments, cultures, and design—translating these experiences into tangible objects and architectural narratives.
