2022 Vapaan Taiteen Tila, Helsinki, Finland
Sisu Formosa Festival is a two-day multidisciplinary event celebrating the intersection of music, visual arts, and culinary traditions from Finland and Taiwan.
As a duo, we took on dual roles—both as photographers and as designers of the exhibition stands. The venue, Vapaan Taiteen Tila, a raw and atmospheric bunker space in Helsinki, set the stage for our photography exhibition themed Elämä 生 (Life). Through a dialogue of images, we explored the parallels between Finland and Taiwan, capturing moments of food, architecture, animals, and nature.
The modular display stands were designed as an unconventional approach to photo exhibitions. Constructed with mesh surfaces in two standard widths and supported by feet of varying heights, the system allowed for flexible configurations—linear arrangements or dynamic compositions—assembled with simple bolts. More than just a support structure, the stands became an integral part of the exhibition, forming a spatial installation that invited visitors to engage with the works in a layered and immersive way.
