The Cats' Daydreams is a playful and cozy interior design for a young couple and their two beloved cats. As warm hosts and devoted cat lovers, the couple enjoys gathering with friends and family at home. The primary goal of this project was to enhance their shared living and dining space—maximizing storage, creating enriching pathways for their cats, and maintaining an open, airy feel within a compact space.
We began by reimagining the floor plan, partially removing a wall and its door to transform an adjacent room into a semi-private workspace. This modification allows natural light to flow more freely into the living area while maintaining a sense of openness and connection between spaces. A full-wall storage system was designed, incorporating cat-friendly pathways to encourage exploration. To further enhance movement and spatial cohesion, we connected the storage wall to a window-side resting platform, which flows into the TV cabinet and extends into a long desk leading to the workspace.
Color and material selection played a vital role in shaping the atmosphere. Inspired by the homeowner’s vibrant and playful fashion sense, we infused the space with dynamic hues. The color orange is carried throughout the living-dining space, appearing on the entrance shelf, kitchen sliding door, cabinet door handle with a cat hole, and the high shelf where the cat can perch and observe from above. The interplay of wood, glass, angel white, and olive green, along with carefully selected furniture pieces, brings a cheerful yet balanced ambiance to the home.

Each cat’s personality was also considered in the design—one enjoys climbing to lofty heights, while the other prefers napping by the sunlit windows. Their daydreams now unfold within a space that embraces their playful instincts.
